I think I’d have called it 2-4-1. One takin’ the dirt nap, one never gettin’ out. Except where I live they do get out. Sooner than later too. The streets have never been more dangerous. Just for today I’m glad I realize I’m entirely too old to be anywhere near that ridiculous scene. I just turned 46 a couple months back and am looking forward to dying in my own bed or at least at a time and place of my choosing.

Good poem !!
Nice rhythm and in the end, a parable. Fun to read, as languag goes. Of today, which actually says a lot. Also, in the writing, we sense that the poet really is more educated than the language put fourth. Good job! Keep writing and analyzing what you write. Poems like this are great because they actually talk to people not only in a beautiful way, but also in a way that they can understand.

I could hear the bass beat when I was reading this. If I were teaching college English, I’d use this poem as an example of excellent 1st person poetry.
